Cooper Rd, Scotch Plains - Closed
POSTED:
Monday, August 26, 2013

The following announcement was sent by Sgt E. Hernandez of the Scotch Plains P.D.

On or about August 26th, Cooper Rd will be closed between Martine Ave and Terrill Rd between 8:30 am to 5:30 pm, for a period of five to six weeks, while New Jersey American Water (NJAW) replaces a main.

A temporary water system for homes and fire hydrants will be put in place while the main is replaced.

Access to the affected portion of Cooper Rd will be restricted to residents, emergency, and construction vehicles only. Residents will be notified by NJAW if access to their homes by car will be affected on any given day due to openings in the roadway.

Access by car to Ponderosa Park will be restricted while Cooper Rd is closed.

School busses will be affected as the work will continue thru September. The SPBOE will be advised to have all students along the affected portion of Cooper Rd picked up by 8:30 am, before work commences.

Depending on what bus a student is on, busses will drop off on Cooper Rd at the intersection of Martine Ave, Terrill Rd, or Fennimore Dr. Students will then walk to their homes using the sidewalk on the north side of the street.

The Scotch Plains Police Dept will be on site during the closure to assist residents and students.
