NOTICE OF ROAD CONSTRUCTION

We have been advised by the NJDOT that Route 28 from Galloping Hill Rd to Elmora Ave in Elizabeth will be under construction. The date and duration of the project are referenced above.

The work being performed will consist of various road improvements, such as milling, paving, and striping of the road. Due to the nature of the work involved, the amount of men and machinery required, full road closure will be necessary in the area of work to optimize the safety of the work crews and motoring public alike. To minimize the impact on traffic, the work will be done at night. The road will be closed from approximately 8:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m. each day weather permitting.

A clearly marked detour route will be established and maintained by the state contractor. Emergency vehicles will be allowed through at all times. Access to residences, including deliveries and other services, in the work zone will be allowed as much as possible.

Should you have any further inquiries, please call NJDOT Community Relations at (609) 530-2110 during normal business hours. If any emergencies should arise, please contact your municipal Police Department.

Regular updates for the various phases of construction and their impact on traffic will be posted if and when they become available. Bookmark this page to stay informed.
