In 1988 the formerly autonomous Union County
Board of Social Services was formally incorporated
into Union County Government. It is now known as
the Union County Division of Social Services and operates under the auspices of the Union County Department of Human Services.
The Division of Social Services provides assistance to the needy in Union County by administering a variety of programs including free vaccinations and immunizations for children. Temporary Aid for Needy Families (TANF), Pharmaceutical Assistance to the Aged and Disabled (PAAD) and child support.
|
Scope of Services |
Program benefits and case management services enable eligible individuals and families to maintain independent living within the community by providing at least a minimum level of financial support
and necessary social/support services to resolve crises and/or
prevent institutionalization. |
Efficiency |
Entitlement benefits and social/case management services are provided in a timely, cost-effective manner within
error rate tolerances mandated by federal regulations. Productivity
is increased each year. Programs are administered within funding resource allocations. Lastly, scrutinizing of case management
allows for fraud deterrence and cost savings to the citizenry of
Union County. |
Effectiveness |
Periodic sample surveys, audits, statistical
analysis, management reports and community and individual user comments reflect satisfaction with the quality of service. Services
are provided in a humane manner by professionally skilled staff. |
Citizen Participation and Advocacy |
Community impact is
sought through Workforce Investment Board meetings, monthly CEAS meetings, and through allocation of Social Service Block
Grant funding decisions by the Human Services Advisory Council. Program outreach and coordination of service programs with other public and private providers ensures community needs are met through a community based services network. |
