The Family Planning Unit makes referrals to community based family planning organizations. It serves to make welfare recipients aware of available family planning services and to inform them that such services are covered under the Medicaid Program. All new applicants for welfare and Medicaid programs are seen by a Family Planning Counselor as part of the screening process. Family Planning services are provided on an ongoing basis for active recipients whose cases have been open for an extended time period.
