Harris surrenders to authorities for April 2009 homicide

An 18-year-old Elizabeth man wanted in connection with an April 2009 homicide at the Oakwood Housing Project surrendered to authorities yesterday afternoon, announced Union County Prosecutor Theodore J. Romankow.

Laquan Harris DOB: 4/25/1991 is the primary suspect in the shooting death of Antonio Davis AKA "Uncle Pete" inside a hallway of the building at 350 Irvington Ave in Elizabeth.

According to the investigation, shortly after 8 p.m. on April 13, 2009, police discovered Davis, 27, inside the Oakwood Housing project with an apparent gunshot wound. He was transported to University Hospital where he died a short time later, said Romankow.

 

Shortly after 4 p.m. yesterday, Harris walked into the State Police office in Irvington where he surrendered to the authorities. He is currently being held at the Union County Jail.

 

These criminal charges are mere accusations.  
The defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
