ELIZABETH, N.J. -- Two months after the owner of a Roselle liquor store was gunned down inside of his shop, the Union County Homicide Task Force continues to investigate the case, said Prosecutor Theodore J. Romankow.
On March 18, 2009 Jitendra Parikh, 64, of North Bergen was shot inside of his Skylark Discount Liquor store on West 1st Street in Roselle during the course of a robbery, according to officials. He was transported to University Hospital in Newark where he died a short time later.
“We are using this opportunity to remind people that we
are still working on this case – as we do with all unsolved homicides in the county – and to urge anyone with information to come forward,” said Romankow. “The
Parikh family deserves to have the critical questions in the
case answered.”
Sometimes, said Romankow, all it takes to capture criminals is to remind people of the crime. The public remains one of the most important tools known to law enforcement.

“Someone, somewhere knows who is responsible for the death of Mr. Parikh,” said Romankow. “I urge them to call our detectives or crime stoppers. We will keep all
information confidential.”
Police urge anyone with information regarding the death of Jitendra Parikh to contact
Roselle Police Sgt. Tom Nugent at 732-522-1681 or Det. Brian Fech of the Homicide Task Force at 908-337-0832.
Additionally, Crimestoppers is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for the arrest and indictment of those responsible for the shooting death of Jitendra Parikh. Anyone with information
may call the Crimestoppers tip line at (908) 654-TIPS (8477). All calls are kept anonymous and confidential. |
