Union County Senior Art Show Winners Exhibit at Freeholders Gallery |

ELIZABETH, NJ – The Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders and the Office of Cultural and Heritage Affairs are happy to announce that the First Place art works from the 2010 Union County Senior Art Show are on exhibit at the Freeholders Gallery located on the 6th floor of the Union County Administration Building at Elizabethtown Plaza in Elizabeth. The winning pieces can be seen weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The exhibit will run through Tuesday, August 24. “The winners are of professional and non-professional artistic backgrounds,” said Freeholder Bette Jane Kowalski, liaison to the Cultural and Heritage Programs Advisory Board. “Their work will go on to compete at the New Jersey Senior Citizens Art Show at Meadow Lakes in East Windsor in September.” The annual Union County Senior Citizen Art Show is open to artists who are 60 years of age or older and reside in Union County. The show is held from mid-June to mid-July in the atrium of the Elizabethtown Gas Company in Union. The non-professional artists whose two-dimensional art works are included in the Freeholders Gallery exhibit are: William Daniels of Springfield (Acrylic); Rosalind S. Dorlen of Summit (Oil & Best in Show); Wolf Kretlow of Roselle (Photography); Lucille McGann of Scotch Plains (Mixed Media); Ann Paradiso of Cranford (Pastel); George C. Parella of New Providence (Watercolor); Harry Spears of Vauxhall (Computer Imagery); and Eileen Willoughby of Westfield (Drawing). The professional artists in the exhibit are: George Hodges of Scotch Plains (Photography); Linda Howe of New Providence (Drawing); Rafael Alexander Illanes of Linden (Acrylic); Gini M. Pagdon of Elizabeth (Pastel); and Rosalia Verdun of Roselle Park (Oil). The first place winners of the 3D designs are not exhibited at the Freeholders Gallery, but will also go on to compete at the New Jersey Senior Citizens Art Show. They are: Bruce Long of Westfield (Craft); Marilyn Schwartz of Springfield (Sculpture); and Dolores Stewart of Plainfield (Sculpture & Best in Show).
