Union County Hosting “National Night Out” in Meisel Park in Springfield
August 3 Police-Community Event Aimed at Preventing Crime and Drug Use

SPRINGFIELD, NJ – The Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders will host a National Night Out event on Tuesday, August 3, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in Meisel Park, off Meisel Avenue in Springfield.

The 27th Annual National Night Out is a unique police-community partnership aimed at preventing crime and drug use. The Township of Springfield and the Borough of New Providence will also be participating.

“National Night Out is a time for people to learn about neighborhood safety and to stand together against crime and violence,” said Freeholder Chairman Daniel Sullivan. “And it’s a time to strengthen our relationships with the law enforcement and public safety officials who work to protect and serve our communities.”

This year’s event will showcase the Union County Police, the Union County Office of Emergency Management, the Union County Sheriff’s Office’s K-9 and ID units. Emergency vehicles and equipment from Springfield and New Providence will also be featured.

There will be complimentary hot dogs and water, donated by Target, for all attendees plus free inflatable rides, games and activities.

After the National Night Out activities, at 8:45 p.m., Union County’s summertime Family Flix program will show the animated movie Shrek 2.
