Union County, NJ – Union County gardeners can get a jump on spring by purchasing a rain barrel from the Union County 4-H Teen Council. Teen Council member Lindsay Nichnadowicz demonstrates how to use the easy-to-install barrels. They help save money and provide an extra source of water in case of drought by catching rainwater from roof drains. The barrels are $50, about half the typical retail price. The sale will last until March 1 or when supplies run out. Proceeds will help fund the Teen Council’s trip to the North Jersey 4-H Teen Conference. To purchase a rain barrel contact 4-H Agent Jim Nichnadowicz, 908-654-9854 ext. 2236 or Nichnadowicz@njaes.rutgers.edu.
