All-Hazards Approach to Preparedness

Emergencies happen when you least expect them, from hurricanes to terrorism. Having an emergency kit on-hand will help keep you and your family safer during urgent situations. Emergency kits provide the basics in the event you are without clean water, electricity, or other essential services for a few days.

If you are separated from your family members
during an emergency where will you meet?

• How will you communicate if your cell phones do not work?

• Do you know what your child’s school emergency plan is?

• If you cannot pick up your child at school who is your back-up?

• Do you have a family member or neighbor with special needs such as vision or hearing impairment?

▫ If so, how will that person get emergency instructions?
