Group and Evening Trips - Saturday, Special Request |
Services are provided for group, evening and Saturday transportation by special arrangement with the County's Administrative Office by calling (908) 659-5000. |
Trip Reservations [Call (908) 241-8300] |
Reservations can be made Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Please call three to five days in advance to request a trip.
You will be asked to provide the following information when you request a trip for the first time:

Name, Address & Telephone Number

Medicaid Number (if applicable)

Income Level (approx.)

Disability or Special Need

Mobility device (wheelchair, scooter, etc.)

Assistance device (walkers, etc.)
When requesting a trip please provide the following information:

Day, Date and Time of the appointment

Doctor's name, Clinic name, Company name, telephone number
Every effort will be made to accommodate your request however;
trips will be determined by availability. Out of county trips
are provided to destinations up to 5 miles outside of the county
on Monday & Wednesday.
Try to be on-time to meet the vehicle at your designated time and place. The van will wait no longer than 5 minutes, unless instructed by the dispatcher at your request. |
Passenger Responsibilities |

Unruly or inappropriate behavior may result in loss of transportation

No pets other than a service animal accompanying a person with a disability
-
Seat belts must be worn at all times while the vehicle is moving
-
No smoking, eating or drinking is permitted on the vehicle
-
Be ready at least 15 minutes before your scheduled pick-up time
-
Allow at least 15 minutes after your scheduled pickup time before calling the reservationist

If an aide is needed the passenger must acquire one

Telephone the scheduling office if you will be late for a return trip

Trip Cancellations |
If you must cancel a trip, try to call at least 2 hours before the scheduled pickup time; or as soon as possible. If you call after
business hours, please leave your name, telephone number and scheduled trip information on the answering machine.
Three or more uncancelled appointments (no-shows) within a 30 day period will result in a suspension of your transportation privileges for a period of 14 days. |
Helpful Tips for Making your Arrangements for Transportation |

Call no sooner than two weeks prior to your desired trip

Transportation is available on a first come-first served basis

Try to be flexible, you may be asked to change the time of your appointment

If possible, make your appointments for the middle of the day when the system is least busy

Donations |
The Union County Paratransit System provides free service to county residents who are eligible. Voluntary monetary contributions are welcomed and help to support the continuation of this transportation service. Donation envelopes are available upon request on all paratransit vehicles.
