Romankow was sworn into office on July 26, 2002 and serves as the county’s chief law enforcement officer. With over 60 Assistant Prosecutors and more than 70 Detectives, the Prosecutor’s Office is the largest law firm in Union County and one of the largest police departments. Together with a support staff of secretaries, paralegals and law clerks, we prosecute thousands of juvenile and adult criminal cases every year.

Mission Statement
Improving performance at every level without major increases in funding is part of the challenge for the Union County Prosecutor’s Office in a mission that includes investigating and prosecuting serious crimes.
The Office has a history of pro-active outreach efforts and sharing of resources with all 21 municipalities to maintain confidence in our criminal justice system, and in the citizen’s fundamental right to safety and a quality of life that shuns violence, gang activities and the scourge of drugs.
