The dates for removal on the schedule are on or about dates. It is requested that leaves not be put out more than seven (7) days prior to scheduled collection dates. Leaves placed out after the dates indicated will be picked up on the following pick up date.
Leaves can be placed out in several manners such as loose, bagged or in containers. Plastic bags will be cut open and left behind for proper disposal by property owners. If leaves are placed out loosely it is recommended the leaves be placed between the curb line and sidewalk or inside the sidewalk. This will help prevent leaf piles from, clogging storm drains, creating flood conditions, obstructing parking, restricting traffic flow and from being plowed into driveways in the event of snow storms. Leaves should be placed a minimum of ten (10) feet from storm inlets along the street, unless bagged or otherwise containerized.
Street sweepers will, weather and conditions permitting, remain on the normal sweeping schedule throughout leaf pickup operations. They must however avoid piles in street to prevent clogging of the machines. Residual leaves will be swept in conjunction with the normal sweeping schedule.
Only leaves will be picked up. Branches, shrubs, grass clippings, rubbish, etc which are mixed in with leaves will be pulled out and left behind. Landscapers should be advised that only leaves directly from properties on county roads shall be placed at the curb. Dumping leaves from other locations or excessive piles will not be tolerated. Union County supervisors will report any offenses to Union County Police accordingly. |
