Fluorescent Bulb Recycling
Fluorescent Bulbs are accepted for recycling at all of Union County’s Household Hazardous Waste days. In an effort to make recycling easier and more convenient, Union County is now offering fluorescent bulb recycling at municipal convenient centers. The following municipalities are now accepting 4’ and 8’ fluorescent bulbs for recycling, free of charge. Please refer to specific town information for dates, times and locations. Residents are limited to 12 bulbs. No businesses are allowed.
Municipal Programs:
Clark: Clark residents can bring their fluorescent bulbs to Clark Public Works on the last Saturday of the month from 9am-1pm. Dates for 2013: January 26, February 23, March 30, April 27, June 29, July 27, August 31, September 28, October 26, November 30.
Cranford: Union County residents can drop off fluorescent bulbs at the Cranford Conservation Center located at 210 Birchwood Avenue anytime the center is open. Please check the website, http://www.cranford.com/township/Recycle.asp , for exact days and hours of operation. Permits are not required to drop off bulbs.
Elizabeth: Elizabeth residents can bring fluorescent bulbs to the Elizabeth Recycling Center, 523 Trenton Avenue, 7 days a week. Monday- Friday 8 am to 5 pm; Saturday and Sunday 8 am to 4 pm.
Fanwood: Fanwood accepts fluorescent bulbs at the Fanwood Recycling Center on North Avenue (next to Quick Chek). To cover the cost of recycling, a small donation is requested. The center is open on Wednesday and Saturday from 9 am to 1 pm (accept items from non-residents).
Garwood: Residents can drop off fluorescent bulbs at the Garwood Public Works Yard located at 15 South Avenue, Monday – Friday from 8 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Linden: Linden residents can drop off fluorescent bulbs at the Recycling Center located at 2 Donaldson Place. Hours are Monday-Friday 7 am – 3pm and Saturdays from 8 am to 2 pm.
New Providence: New Providence residents can drop off fluorescent bulbs at the DPW located at 29 Park Place Monday through Friday 7 am to 2 pm.
Rahway: Rahway has curbside collection of fluorescent bulbs. Residents must call 732-827-2159 to schedule an appointment. Schedule can be downloaded from their website, www.cityofrahway.com.
Roselle: Residents can drop off fluorescent bulbs at the Roselle DPW Yard, located at 1121 Chandler Avenue. Hours of operation are Monday-Friday between 7:30 am and 2 pm.
Westfield: Residents can bring fluorescent bulbs to the Westfield Conservation Center, 1300 Lamberts Mill Road, anytime the Center is open. Check the website, www.westfieldnj.gov, for exact days and hours of operation. Permit is not required.
