Union County App

The Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders announces the launch of the Union County App, a free new mobile and tablet app designed to help users connect quickly and easily with information about County Government.

Union County becomes only the second County government to offer an app in the State of New Jersey. In previous years, Union County was also among the first in the state to launch Facebook, Instagram and Twitter accounts in an effort to increase outreach and accessibility. Also, the County Clerk’s Office launched the Union County Votes App two years ago, which is being used extensively.

“Union County has once again taken a leadership role in providing access to government via digital technology,” said Chairman Bruce H. Bergen, who announced the development of the app as part of the Freeholder initiatives for 2016. “This is the first phase of the roll out, and we intend to continue to add features moving forward.”

Statistics shows that Americans are using mobile phones as their primary method of accessing digital information. In fact, users spend 90% of their time in apps compared to the mobile Web, according to Flurry, an analytics and digital marketing company. Over the last five years, APP usage has experienced a tremendous global surge among all demographics.

Some of the features of the new Union County App include:

  • Digital county, municipality and elected official directories;
  • Alerts and emergency info;
  • Parks information and a GPS-driven park locator;
  • Seasonal buttons  and special events info;
  • News – stay updated on County services;
  • All other County government services.

Union County app is available now for free download at both the Apple and Android app stores.
